Meet the Canton District Director – Marilyn Wingett dmwingett@yahoo.com
Greetings! I continue to be GCO Canton District Director for 2021-22. I just got my feet wet in 2019 so onward for a good term of working with a great Canton Board and devoted clubs! I was raised on a farm in Damascus, OH and continued my education at Muskingum. I taught school in Pickaway County. My husband’s job took us to Wooster, OH and our daughters had their formative years to enjoy there.
My family settled back at my homeplace on the farm in 2004. Joyce Steer encouraged me to join Damascus Garden Club. Our club always supported National Garden Week. So when Mickie Marquis inquired about me possibly being involved in the GCO Board, I took interest in the NGW chairmanship opening. Flower Show School with Lynn Fronk and Garden Study Schools with Mary Ann Ferguson-Rich and Pat Rupiper were terrific experiences for me. I recommend attending our “schools.” I love the beauty of God’s earth and am thankful that I can play in the soil! As a trustee of our local park, a member of our historical society, and Sunday School teacher, there is always a way to be involved in community! Variety is the spice of life.
