GCO Holiday Program – South – November 6, 2025
The morning presenter, Genevieve Reiner, will discuss “The Benefits of Biophilia: The Science Behind Why We Love Plants.” Biophilia is the idea that humans are intrinsically connected to nature–that we are happiest and healthiest when our environments that have a strong connection to the natural world. As modern living has pulled us away from a close connection to nature, we see signs that this separation is harming us: depression, anxiety, stress, and other physical ailments plague our modern life. By reconnecting with nature, we can lower those negative health trends and make ourselves healthier, happier, and more at peace. The second portion of the presentation will discuss best practices for caring for houseplants, including watering and lighting, repotting, pruning, and fertilizing.
In the afternoon, designers Cleo Lehman and Pat Rupiper will present “You Too Can Make Stress Free Holiday Decor”. Cleo and Pat will prepare unique designs in front of the audience with florals and repurposed everyday items and/or prior holiday decorations which can be found around our homes. Creative expression through floral design and recycling has been a passion for them. They are excited to share this passion by presenting designs that highlight the holiday season.
