Garden Club of Ohio Executive Board

Kathy Wagner

President:

Kathy Wagner

I joined Centerville Garden Club in November 2011, and have served as Corresponding/Recording Secretary, Vice President, &  President.  In 2019 I joined the Rolling Hills Garden Club.  I served as Dayton District Director 2013-2015, and was Registrar for the most recent Dayton Convention.
I have had many roles in the Garden Club of Ohio:  Yearbook Awards Chairman, Nature Conservancy Chairman, 2nd Vice President, 1st Vice President , and now GCO President 2023-2025
My favorite gardening is container gardening, they look good sitting around my patio and the maintenance is easy. I love to watch the hummingbirds and butterflies that come around. My favorite flower is columbine for hummingbirds, and the butterflies love my Black Eyed Susan.
Marlene Hatton

Past President:

Marlene Hatton

I was a member of Terrace Garden Club in Cleveland Heights from 1982 until they folded in 2022. I served as President, as well as chairing several committees. When we moved in 2009 I joined Twinsburg Garden Club where I have served as President and Flower Show Chairman.
In Garden Club of Ohio I have served as Akron District Director from 2015-2017 and moved up from there. I have just completed a two year term as GCO President.  It was a blast!
My interests lie in floral design and environmental issues.  It has taken me 10 years but I hope to advance to Master Flower Show Judge this year.  I am happiest living near the water; as a child at Atwood Lake in the summers and in Florida for the winters.  Oceans free of plastic is a passion of mine.
I didn’t get into gardening until we owned a home and I had a bed along the driveway.  I believe it’s not Summer unless you are growing tomatoes!  Currently I am into container gardening.  I enjoy growing flowers I can use in designs and culinary herbs. My favorite flower is the hydrangea (I have 7). I only wish they would bloom better this year!
Debra Turner

First Vice President:

Debra Turner

Ohio’s First Vice President Debra Turner is a former financial journalist on the global desk of Dow Jones Newswire’s New York Bureau.
She earned her International MBA from Wirtshaftsuniversitaet-Wien in Austria and the University of South Carolina. Her bachelor’s degree is from the University of Colorado. She grew up on a farm and ranch in that state.
Her husband, Ohio-native Dave McCoy, and she met when both were editors for the York Daily Record in Pennsylvania. They’ve lived and worked in New Jersey, Delaware, New Mexico, and in Canada’s Nova Scotia.
Debra fell in love with floral design and found inspiration from designers in Nova Scotia, New Mexico and, of course, Ohio garden clubs. Horticulturalists in garden clubs and master gardeners have mentored her. She’s now an accredited flower show judge thanks to help from judges and garden clubs from all over the state of Ohio. Special thanks to members of Creative Arrangers Guild, Pickaway County Garden Club and Shawnee Arrangers.

Second Vice President

 Kim Overholt

Treasurer:

Kim Overholt

I have been a member of East Rochester Garden Club for 38 years and I am currently the President of our club and I have held the offices of Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer as well.  I have been married for 39 years to my wonderful husband and have two adult children and two grandchildren.  Aside from gardening, I love camping with my family and friends and traveling!  Being outdoors is my favorite thing to do and I feel my love for gardening was first taught to me by my grandmother as she was a farmer and avid gardener. I always thought there was nothing she could not do or did not know!  My favorite flowers are daisies and roses and I enjoy working in my flower beds and vegetable gardening. I look forward to serving my fellow gardeners as Treasurer of Garden Club of Ohio

 Sandra Rogers

 Recording Secretary:

Sandra Rogers
I have been a member of Seven Hills Garden Club for about 30 years, and the last 10 years at Ridgewood Garden Club of Parma.  I was President the past 4 years and have been everything but Treasurer.  I have been married to my husband Mike for 48 years,  and have 2 adult children, David & Michelle. I was very active in PTA, Parma City Schools and Ohio PTA for 23 years and am still active in Past Gavelers of Parma (Past PTA Presidents).  My other interest beside gardening is Arts and Crafts.  I enjoy making jewelry and holiday floral centerpieces.  Gardening goes back to my childhood, my parents had 3 1/2 acers and we had a large garden area, even a strawberry patch of which we sold strawberries. Mom always had flower gardens around the house. You could say it's in my 'JEANS'. Sunflowers & dahlias are my favorite flowers.
